Cruff, Verta Gilmer

Verta Gilmer Cruff, 94, of Rural Retreat and formerly of Pulaski, died Tuesday, April 10, 2007. She was the daughter of the late Grover C. and Ida Linkous Gilmer.

She was a retired Nurse and was preceded in death by her husband, James J. Cruff and a daughter, Wanda Sue Cruff Preston.

She is survived by her son-in-law, Charles R. Preston, of Rural Retreat; grandchildren and spouse, Beth and Gary Dunn, of Ashboro, N.C., Terri Preston and Jamal Abdalla, of Roanoke, Charles Rhea Preston III, of Rural Retreat; great-grandson, Tristan Richmond; stepgreat-grandson, Brandon Dunn; special friend, Marge Folden, of Pulaski; nephew, Nelson Gilmer, of Bel Air, Md.

Funeral service will be Thursday, 2 p.m. in the First Christian Church, Pulaski conducted by the Rev. Randy Winn with the interment in the Thorn Springs Cemetery, Pulaski. Family will receive friends at Grubb Funeral Home Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the Church Thursday from 1 p.m. until service time.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Christian Church New Building Fund, P.O. Box 1007 Pulaski, Va. 24301. Grubb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
