croy alden carrollAlden Carroll Croy, 77, of Pembroke, departed this life on Monday morning, October 10, 2011, at Skyline Manor in Floyd after a long illness. Born in Pearisburg on May 30, 1934, he was a son of the late Lee Hudson and Margie Lafon Croy Pyles. Carroll was a veteran of the United States Army, Korean Conflict; was employed for many years at A.P. Green Lime Company at Goldbond; was self-employed as home improvement handy-man; and attended Riverview Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Sam Pyles; his son, Steven Croy; and his first wife, Alice Hilton Croy. He leaves to cherish his memory his children and their spouses, Judith and Joey Turman, of Craig County, Wayne and Linda Croy, of Pearisburg, Ted Croy, of Pembroke, Keith Croy, of Pearisburg, Jeff and Dana Croy, of Pembroke, and Rodney and Katheryn Croy, of Staffordsville; his brothers, Howard Junior Pyles and Nancy, of Pearisburg, and Danny Pyles, of Pearisburg; his sisters, Lou and Dr. Tom Long, of Lindside, W.Va., Beulah Chang, of Westminister, Md., Betty Thomas, of Pembroke, Jo Ann Lindsey, of Dublin, Mary Jane and Don Guynn, of Narrows, Phyllis Jennings, of Dublin, and Katherine Croy; his sister-in-law, Geraldine Croy, of Christiansburg; his 11 grandchildren; and his one great-grandchild. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 13, 2011, in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke, with Pastor Shahn Wilburn officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, October 12, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. Graveside Military Rites will be performed by the VFW and American Legion Posts of Giles and Monroe Counties.
