Stephen Reid Cromer, 55, of Christiansburg, died Sunday, May 4, 2008, at his home with his loving wife and daughters by his side after a five year courageous and dignified battle with brain cancer.

He was born in Blacksburg, Va., on June 8, 1952. He was preceded in death by his mother, Louise Graves Cromer. Stephen enjoyed a long and successful career with several local automobile dealerships as the parts manager.

The love of his life was his wife and two daughters. Stephen also was known by his friends as having a lifelong passion for the game of golf. He will be sadly missed by his golfing buddies.

He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Bungard Cromer; daughters, Allison Louise Cromer, Amber Kristine Cromer, all of Christiansburg; sisters, Carolyn Wimmer, Kathy Sage; brothers, Charlie, John, Larry, Tim Cromer; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A celebration of Stephen’s life will be conducted Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at 11 a.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Westview cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Good Samaritan Hospice, 3825-A Electric Road SW, Roanoke, Va. 24018 or the National Brain Tumor Foundation, 22 Battery Street, Suite 612, San Francisco, Calif. 94111.

Friends may call anytime after noon Tuesday and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr. SW, Blacksburg.
