Charles W. (CW) Cromer, 74, of Floyd and formerly of Salem, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, April 4, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cleo and Charles Cromer, Sr., and grandparents, Minnie and Bill Garnett.

Charles was a graduate of Andrew Lewis High School and served from 1960 to 1966 in the United States Army. He retired as a lineman with Southern Bell of Charlotte, N.C.

Surviving are his daughter, Wendy Cromer Potter; son, Charles W. (Chuck) Cromer, III; granddaughter, Allison Natalie Potter; sister, Rebecca Joyce and husband, Dr. Bob Joyce; longtime companion, Marlene Randleman; aunts and uncles, Sue and Buck Fulcher, Ray Garnett, and Regina Jobe; along with a host of other relatives and close friends, Randall and Linda Midkiff.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the K-9 Unit of either the Floyd County Sheriff’s Department or Salem Police Department.

A celebration of life service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
