Rev. Thomas Murphy Crockett departed this life to be reunited in Heaven with his beloved wife and other loved ones on Tuesday_Sept. 25 with family by his side at his home. Murphy (Tom) as many knew him by, was born January 19, 1928 in Delton, VA the youngest child of late Joseph Kent Crockett and Lula Gay Howard Crockett.

He was also pre-deceased by his wife, soul mate and best friend of 63 years – Erma Jean Stamper Crockett. 4 brothers: Robert Posey Crockett, John Joseph Crockett, Woodrow Kent Crockett, Sheldon Howard Crockett. 4 sisters: Lillian I. Crockett Hartwell, Minnie A. Crockett Blackburn, C. Ruth Crockett Caldwell, Frances L. Crockett Lewis-Lynch.

Murphy was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Delton since its inception in 1954. He held many positions throughout the years. He was licensed and ordained as minister in 1973 and was also set forth as deacon at this time. He and Erma both were devout Christians, devoting their lives to God, teaching and instilling into their children the importance of family, values, good morals, faith, the power of prayer and most of all God’s amazing grace.

Left to cherish his many wonderful memories are his 3 children: Thomas Eugene Crockett (Linda), Bobbie Crockett-King (Leland), Patricia Crockett Angle (Douglas), 5 grandchildren: Thomas Bradley Crockett, Alison Hope Crockett Irvin (Levi), Bobbi Jeanne “B.J.” Crockett Angle-Cook (Jamie), Adam Howard King (Cassandra), Laura Lee Crockett Angle: 3 great grandchildren: Thomas Matthew Crockett (LeAnna), Devin Hunter Irvin, Alexis Cheyanne Irvin: 2 great-great grandsons: Thomas Elijah Cole Crockett, (5th generation “Thomas”): Sawyer James Daniel Crockett: Special pet: Wrex. Also survived by many special friends and church family.

A celebration service of Murphy’s life will be on Sunday Sept 30, at 7:00 PM at Seagle’s Funeral Chapel with Rev. Danny McGlothlin and Rev. Diane Stanley officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 PM prior to the service. Burial will be private in Oakwood Cemetery.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Osemobor for his amazing care and loving and caring home visits to check on and treat Daddy, Dr. Acharya’s special care and the Medi Home Health Hospice and a very special thanks to Robyn and Jamie for all of their care, kindness and love shown to us during the last few weeks of our time with Daddy.
