Arnold Bernard Criner Jr., 78, of Blacksburg, died Saturday, May 21, 2016, at his home. He was born in Blacksburg on March 29, 1938 to the late Arnold Bernard and Mattie Frances Caldwell Criner.

He was very active during his life. After retiring from the Town of Blacksburg golf course, he spent most of his time fixing up things he found at yard sales and flea markets. Bernard also enjoyed gardening and teaching others how to garden. He loved to share his fruits and vegetables with friends and family.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Linda Surface Criner; son, Willie J. Criner; and his brother, Wayne Criner. He is survived by his son, Jeff A. Criner; daughters, Rena Criner Vipperman, Tena Criner Epperly; grandchildren, Austin, Erin, Mckela, Josh, Meghan and Cole; great-granddaughter, Madilynn; and brother, Fred L. Criner.

Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor Rob Sowell officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made American Cancer Society 2840 Electric Road, Suite 106A Roanoke, Va. 24018. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm Monday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home 150 Country Club Dr. SW, Blacksburg.
