Oreanna Devin Crews, 100 years old, died Friday, December 24, 2010, while attending a Christmas Eve service. Born on a farm that she loved in Charlotte County, Virginia, on October 22, 1910, she later lived in Lynchburg, Saxe, and most recently Blacksburg.

Oreanna taught in a one-room school for several years until she married Walter Lee Farmer in 1933. Six years after his death in 1971, she married Arthur Gray Crews, who predeceased her by 20 years. Oreanna loved God, her family, her friends, dogs, women’s basketball, music, cars, and the color green. She was a member of West Lynchburg Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Frieda Farmer Bostian, and son-in-law, Charles Bostian. Other survivors are her grandson, Mitchell Brian Bostian of Fairfax, Calif. together with his wife, Joan and daughters, Rhianna, Amalia, and Roxanne; and her grandson, Walter Frank Bostian of Watertown, Mass. together with his wife, Trudi and their son, Gerry.

The family is grateful for her abundant life and all who enriched it. Special thanks to Traci Burke, Betty Bland, Lee Shumate, April McCroskey, and Lynn Bentley, whose care was both skilled and loving.

The funeral will be Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at 2 p.m. at West Lynchburg Baptist Church. The Rev. James D. Newman will officiate, with burial to follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. in the church parlor. A brief memorial service will be held at Northside Presbyterian Church, Blacksburg, Va., on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Linda Dickerson officiating.
