Creed, John Benjamin

John Benjamin Creed, age 81, of Shawsville died, Thursday, July 16, 2015, at Lewis Gale Medical Center. He was born in Montgomery County on August 31, 1933 to the late Melvin Lewis and Ada Moore Creed. He is preceded in death by his brother, Lewis Creed, sister, Lorene Brammer.

He retired from the United States Air Force as a Master Sergeant over 20 years. He followed with a career in Civil Service.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte June Creed, sisters, Elizabeth Brammer, Geraldine Carden, Mary Huff, brothers and sisters-in-law, Wilford and Naomi Creed, Clyde and Jennett Creed, Gary and Linda Creed, God child, Niki Shumate, special aunt, Charlotte Smith, special niece, Sharon Dalton, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at 11:00 am in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Sean Couch officiating. Interment will follow in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Dublin. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association 3959 Electric Road, Suite 357, Roanoke, Va. 24018. The family will receive friends from 5-8:00 pm Monday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home 150 Country Club Dr. SW, Blacksburg.
