Paul Bane Crawford, 85, of Glen Lyn, Va., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a long illness. He was born in Mercer County, W.Va. on July 11, 1933.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alice and Andrew Crawford; his son, Gregory; his granddaughter, Elisha; a nephew, Cephas Blankenship and his five brothers, Edward, Harold, Franklin, Alfred and Charles and five sisters Louise, Captola, Lourine, Polly and Frances.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Earnestine; his children, Paul Crawford Jr., and wife Cheryl of Narrows, Va.; Rickey Crawford and wife Marsha of Glen Lyn, Va.; Patricia Ballard and husband Michael of Roanoke, Va.; Connie Brown and husband Rufus of Florence, S.C.; Rebecca Williby and husband Dennis of Oakvale, W.Va.; Lisa Lloyd and husband George of Roanoke, Va. He was Paw Paw to eight grandchildren, James Crawford; Rufus Brown and wife Teresa; Bradley Williby; Christopher Ballard and wife Abigail; Benjamin Brown and wife Ainsleigh; Shane Williby; Roseann Collins and husband JJ; and Allison Crawford Lloyd; and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, a special sister-in-law Stella Meadows, and his loyal dog Cosmo. He was blessed to have many friends.

Paul was employed in various jobs throughout the years, but always spoke of his time at Crowgey’s Packing and M&R Construction where he retired in 1995. He was a United States Army veteran who served in the Korean Conflict. Paul was an avid hunter and fisherman and spent many summers camping, he loved to garden and planted a tomato patch every year. He was a fantastic cook with everyone requesting his chicken and dumplings. He was most happy at home sitting on his front porch on warm days.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Paul will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday March 26, 2019 from G.E. Davis Chapel of Fredeking Funeral Service, Oakvale, W.Va. with Pastor Tony Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Narrows Va. with the Giles County VFW and American Legion conducting military graveside rites. Paul’s grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Friends may visit with the family from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, March 25, 2019 at the funeral home. Online Condolences may be shared with the family via www.fredekingfs.com.
