Crawford, John David

John David Crawford, 72 of Newport, VA went to be in the arms of Jesus on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at his home. Born July 9, 1951, he was a son of the late Thomas Jennings and Virginia Martin Crawford.

He was drafted into the US Army in 1971; having served during the Vietnam War.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Josephine; sister, Geraldine “Gerrie” Turner; and a brother, Thomas Steve Crawford.

Those left to cherish his memory are a sister, Jane Asbury (Dan) of Christiansburg; his wife of 47 years, Barbara Dowdy Crawford of Newport, VA; daughters Robin Lambert (Troy) of Christiansburg, VA, and Gina Crawford (Sherman) of Narrows; son, Brian Crawford (Stona) of Narrows, VA; granddaughters, Tiffani Culbertson, Tyra Houston, Jacob Agee, Michael French, Bria Crawford, Michaela Steele; several nieces and nephews, Cindy, Carrie, Tommy, Jessica, and Jared also survive.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at 2:00 PM in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel in Pembroke, VA with Pastor Gary Poff officiating. Funeral services will conclude at Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg, VA with military rites given. The family will have a time of visitation on Thursday, September 21, 2023 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel.
