Crawford, Alice Emaline Buckland
Alice Emaline Buckland Crawford, 85, of Narrows, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at Carilion Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg. A lifelong resident of Giles County, she was born on November 9, 1925 and was the daughter of the late Loyd Rucker and Faye Blankenship Buckland. In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Arthur Lloyd (Ott) Crawford, a son, William Arthur Crawford and several brothers and sisters. Emaline was a faithful member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Narrows, where her service included the Christian Women’s Fellowship, Chancel Choir, Sunday School teacher, and a member of the Church Board. She was also a member of American Legion Post #68 Ladies Auxiliary, and a loyal and devoted volunteer for many causes in the area. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her. Left to cherish her memory are a son, Robert Lloyd (Bob) Crawford, of Narrows; a daughter, Cynthia Diane Crawford, of Christiansburg; three grandchildren, Kimberly McCoy, of Christiansburg, Robert Lloyd Crawford, Jr. and wife, Trish, of Wichita, Kansas, and Mitchell Lloyd Crawford, of New York, N. Y.; two great-grandchildren, Skyler ReneĆ© McCoy and Cody Allen Bell, both of Christiansburg; several nieces, nephews and cousins, and many special friends. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at 11 a.m. at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 605 Memorial Boulevard in Narrows. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
