Craighead, Junior Preston

Junior Preston Craighead, 83, of Christiansburg, Va., son of the late Edward P. and Minnie G. Craighead, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2009, at Richfield Rehab.

He was preceded in death by wife, Eva C.; daughters, Edith Marie Craighead and Elizabeth “Libby” Williams; and son, William “Bill” Craighead as well as several brothers and sisters. Surviving are daughter, Melissa “Missy” and son-in-law, Shane Jarvis; granddaughters, Tammy Cupp, Dawn Sexton, Amber Craighead and Becky Craighead; great-grandchildren, Randy, Dylan, Alicia, Brianna and Madisyn; sister, Evelyn Ragland and family, of Roanoke; brother, Fred Craighead and family, of Floyd; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and family members.

J.P. worked at Hercules RAAP for more than 30 years as a guard and retired in 1987 as a Lieutenant. He enjoyed his days on the guard force and remembered them fondly with family. He was also a World War II veteran and was proud of the time he served. He will be missed by family and friends alike.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at 1 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Good Samaritan Hospice, 2408 Electric Road, Roanoke, Va. 24018.

Friends may call any time after noon Monday and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg.
