Dorothy Muriel Blankenship Craig, 84, of Narrows, passed away with family by her side on Friday, February 15, 2008. She was born December 31, 1923, and was the daughter of the late Myrtle and Tolbert Blankenship.

“Dot” was a lifelong resident of Narrows and retired in 1988 after a 40 plus year career at Celanese Acetate, in Narrows.

She is survived by a brother, J. Leslie Blankenship, of Rocky Mount; a brother-in-law, Lilburn Craig and wife, Madeline, of Ballard, W.Va.; a daughter, Sharyn Jennings and husband, John, of Narrows; and two sons, Michael Craig and wife, Vielka, of Fairfax, and Scott Craig and wife, Leanna, of Narrows.

She was known as “Granny Dot” to her four grandchildren, John Jennings and wife, Sandra, of Suwanee, Ga., Jason Jennings, of Lynchburg, Troy Craig and wife, Dana, of Richmond, and Lauren Craig, of Narrows; three great-grandchildren, Cullen Jennings, of Lynchburg, and Juliana and Natalie Jennings, of Suwanee, Ga.

Dot greatly enjoyed her life in the peaceful town of Narrows where she will be survived by many special friends and family members.

A graveside service will be held Monday, February 18, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery, in Narrows, with the Rev. Jim Hagy officiating. At Dot’s request, there will be no visitation or viewing.
