Crabtree, Joyce Wray

Joyce Pauline Wray Crabtree was born on August 4, 1923 in Richmond, VA, to the late Perry Joyce Wray and Clyde Mack Wray Sr. She passed away May 17, 2018 at Sentara Hospice House in Virginia Beach, VA.

She grew up in Mt. Airy N.C. She married Rev. James Lee Crabtree December 24, 1943. She served as a Minister’s wife many years. After retirement she resided in Narrows, VA before moving to Virginia Beach, VA. Then went on to reside at Autumn Care of Chesapeake in Chesapeake, VA.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her son James Adrian Crabtree, sister Myrtle Vernell Wray, sister Evelyn Wray Marshall and Brother in law Samuel Wesley Marshall Sr., brother Robert Graham Wray and Sister in Law Edith Marie Poff Wray.

Survivors include daughter-in-law, Jean Crabtree of Christiansburg, VA, son, Charles Crabtree and wife Gloria of Mt. Airy N.C., Son, George Timothy Crabtree and wife Helen of Lebanon, VA, and son, Paul Crabtree and wife Dena of Va. Beach, VA. Her brother Rev. Clyde Mack Wray Jr. and wife Mary Jo Walker Wray of Jacksonville, Fl. 10 Grandchildren and 22 Great Grandchildren.

She was a Loving wife, Mother, Grandmother and Friend

The family will receive friends Sunday May 20th from 5 to 8 PM at Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows. Funeral services will be held Monday May 21st at 12 noon in the Chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service with Rev. Leon O’Quinn officiating. Burial will follow in the Boyd Cemetery in the Wolf Creek Community near Narrows.
