Cozort, Harmon

Harmon Cozort, age 88, of Forest Hill, WV passed away Monday, July 24, 2023 at his residence. Born October 23, 1934 at Sabine, WV in Wyoming County to the late George and Lakie Bailey Cozort.

Harmon was a hard worker all his life. He was a coal miner and a member of the UMWA District 17. He enjoyed being outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved his family dearly and was a true family man. He also loved the Lord and was a member of the Victory Pentecostal Church at Weikle.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ben and Ervin Cozort; two sisters, Lenie Tilley and Tressey Hasey; and a son-in-law, Steven Cales. Survivors include, his loving wife of 67 years, Rosetta Brooks Cozort of Forest Hill, WV; three sons, Benny Cozort and wife Donna of Marie, WV, Richard Cozort and wife Missy of Bozoo, WV, and Stoney Cozort and wife Sherry of Red Sulphur, WV; five daughters, Catherine Cozort of Peterstown, WV, Connie Knight and husband Randy of Forest Hill, WV, Darlene Bridges and husband Randy of Cashmere, WV, Dorene Combs and husband Kenny of Kentucky, and Almey Cales of Talcott, WV; two brothers, Holt Cozort and wife Shirley of McGraws, WV, and Henry Cozort and wife Janet of Raleigh County, WV. Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins survive.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, July 29, 2023 at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, WV with Pastor J.C. Finley officiating. Burial will follow in Valley View Cemetery at Willow Wood, WV. The family will receive friends Saturday, July 29, 2023 from 12:00 pm until the time of the service at the funeral home. The family will meet for a private viewing from 11:00 am until 12:00 prior to the public visitation.
