Cox, Dovie Huff

Dovie Huff Cox, 88, of 1232 Farris Mines Road, Hiwassee, Va., died on Monday, September 10, 2007 in the New River Valley Medical Center, Radford.

She was born in Carroll County on January 29, 1919 and was the daughter of the late Wyatt Blaine Huff and Myrtle Smith Huff. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Shirley Edward Cox; two sisters, Elva Huff Hurst and Canary Huff Newman; and by two brothers, Carson T. Huff and Cannie Lee Huff. She was a retired school teacher and a member of the Dinwiddie Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are her sisters-in-law, Vergie Cox Wright of Hillsville and Tida M. Huff of Sylvatus; brother-in-law and wife, Eugene and Lou Cox of Hillsville; brother-in-law, A. Vernon Hurst of Hillsville; and many special nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 14, 2007 at 11 a.m. from the Stevens Funeral Chapel, Pulaski, with the Rev. Gary Marshall officiating. There will be a visitation on Friday morning from the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the service hour. Burial will follow in the Drapers Valley Presbyterian Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorials be made to the Dinwiddie Presbyterian Church, 2698 Homestead Road, Hillsville, Va. 24343. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski, Va.
