Cox, Dean Christopher (Kit)
Dean Christopher (Kit) Cox, 79, of Pulaski, lost his battle with cancer on Saturday, November 21, 2015. Dean was born in Pulaski County, Va. on December 6, 1935 and was the son of the late Theodore James and Freda Turpin Cox.
He served in the United States Air Force. Dean was a member and past president of Pulaski Jaycees, a life member of Virginia Jaycees and a member of American Legion Post 7. He was a retired general contractor and superintendent on many projects in the southeast United States and in the Middle East.
Surviving are beloved wife of 58 years, Garda Turner Cox, of Pulaski; daughter and son-in-law, Dena and Stuart Radcliffe, of Charlotte; granddaughters, Amanda, Morgan and Haley Radcliffe, of Charlotte; brother, Theodore J. “Ted” Cox, of Dublin; nephew, T.J. Cox, of Bristol; niece, Kelli and Mike Clayton and their sons, Michael, Trey and Zachary, of Pulaski; and numerous cousins.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Joanna Kolodney, the caring staff of the LewisGale Regional Cancer Center-Pulaski, and the staff of Southern Care Hospice.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 25, 2015 from the Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Johnny Howlett officiating. Burial will follow in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Dublin, VA with the VFW Post 1184 conducting the Military Graveside Rites. Visiting will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening, November 24, 2015 at the funeral home where the family will receive friends.
In lieu of flowers the family wishes memorials be made to the LewisGale Regional Cancer Center, Pulaski, 2400 Lee Highway, Pulaski, VA 24301 or to the American Legion Post 7, P.O. Box 545, Pulaski, VA 24301 or to your favorite charity.
