Cox, Alma Josephine

Alma Josephine “Jo” Cox, 82, a resident of Willow Estates, died on August 20, 2007 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, Va.

Mrs. Cox was born on September 6, 1924 in Tennessee and was the daughter of the late James Solon and Grace Cantrell Hale. Mrs. Cox spent her life in the Christiansburg area until moving to the Harrisonburg area in 2002. She was a member of Main Street Baptist Church in Christiansburg.

On June 27, 1947, she married James Wallace Cox who preceded her in death on December 2, 2002. Surviving are two sons, Mark Cox and wife, Judy Goins, of Broadway and Don Cox and wife, Vala; grandson, Dallas Cox and wife, Tiffany; great grandson, Dominick Cox, all of New Port Ritchie, Fla.; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Peggy and George Yokley of Kingsport, Tenn.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 23, 2007, at the Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 24, 2007 at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Brian D. Siegel officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
