John Ryland Covey, age 62, of Wytheville, passed away, and went quietly home to his Savior Jesus Christ, January 21, 2014. He was retired from Marshall Concrete Company then owned by Steve Marshall.

John lived with his nephew in Wytheville. He was born to James V. Covey, Sr. and Mother Blanche Brooks Covey. His father was one of the creators of New River Valley Emergency Squad a.k.a. REMSI. John lived a quiet life spending time with family and friends and was always there for us.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James V. Sr. and Blanche Brooks Covey of Pulaski, also, two sisters Frances C. Umberger and Brenda Lou Covey. One brother James V. Covey, Jr. of Radford, one nephew Michael D. Browning, II and brother in law Michael D. Browning, Sr., Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, too numerous to mention.

He is survived by one beloved brother, Randy M. Covey, one beloved sister Sharon C. Browning of Draper, VA., beloved Nephew James “J-Bird” Umberger, Duane Umberger and Family, beloved niece Tamara U. Gravely and Fiance, Freddie Hendricks, great Nephew David “Joey” Perfater and Family of Blacksburg, VA, and Beloved Nephew J.C. Covey, II of Los Angeles, CA.

Memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Friday 24, 2014 at Seagle Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests instead of flowers .. donations be made in John’s Name to REMSI Rescue Squad aka New River Valley Emergency Squad in Pulaski, VA.
