Cotroneo, Louis Anthony

Louis Anthony Cotroneo, 86, died January 26, 2022, in his Blacksburg home. He was surrounded by his wife and family. Lou was born on June 20, 1935, in Brooklyn, NY.

He met the love of his life, Jo (Josephine) in 1958, at a Lady of Peace Church Dance and was due to celebrate 62 years of marriage on January 30th.

Anyone who knew Lou, knew him for his laughter, his kindness and his focus on family. He would do anything for anyone and enjoyed creating puzzles, cruising, spending time with his grandchildren, telling stories and helping anyone who came into his life. He was our rock, we are heartbroken, but we will celebrate his life.

He is survived by his soulmate and wife, Jo Cotroneo, his children, Renee Gambon, Peter Cotroneo and Donna Wertalik and their spouses, George Gambon, Joanna Cotroneo and Thomas Wertalik. His pride and joy were in his grandchildren, Parker, Hayden, Sophie and Josh, who lovingly referred to him as “Poppi Lou”.

A viewing is scheduled for Sunday, January 30th, 2-4 at McCoy Funeral Home, followed by a Catholic Mass at St. Mary’s at 11:00 am on Monday, the 31st. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
