Cooper, James Allen

James Allen Cooper, 63, of Blacksburg, Va., departed his life on Wednesday evening, February 17, 2010, at his home after a long battle with cancer. He was a son of late Minnie Lee Cooper and Omar Johnson Cooper. He was preceded in death by his infant son. He leaves to cherish his memory, wife, Gladys Cooper, of Blacksburg, Va.; one brother, Don Cooper, of Christiansburg, Va.; two sisters, Betty Brewster, of Lindside, W.Va., and Peggy Semernecki, of Tennessee; sisters-in-law, Marlene Cox, of Blacksburg, Va., Gloria Smith, of Blacksburg, Va., Martha Smith, of Blacksburg, Va., and Erma Whitlock, of Christiansburg, Va.; special friend, Wayne Criner, of Blacksburg, Va.; and his special pet, Baby. The family would like to thank Vicki Foreman and the staff of Carilion Hospice of Radford. The family will receive friends at the Horne Funeral Home from noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 21, 2010. A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 21, 2010, at Horne Funeral Home Chapel, Christiansburg, Va., with Pastor Merle Hendrick officiating. Interment will follow in the Memorial Gardens of the New River Valley. The Cooper family is being served by Horne Funeral Service.
