Cook, William Franklin

William Franklin (Bill) Cook, 69, of Blacksburg died Sunday, April 20, 2008, at his home. He was born in Montgomery County, Va., on May 29, 1938, to the late William E. and Lonnie Woolwine Cook.

He was also preceded in death by two sons, William Timothy Cook and Michael David Cook; best friend, “Mickey;” and granddaughter, Tracey Michelle Cook. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Bessie Caldwell Cook, of Blacksburg; daughter, Joy Cook Dunford, of Blacksburg; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dewayne Franklin and Gale Cook, of Tampa, Fla., and Danny and Carla Cook, of Christiansburg; seven grandchildren and spouses, Billy Cook, Laura Beth Cook, Stacey and Eric Akers, Ashley Cook, Robbie Cook, Dana and George Walker and Mikie Poff; seven greatgrandchildren, Kaylee Akers, Logan Akers, Justin Walker, Kayla Walker, Michael Cook, Seth Cook and Alexis Cook; three special nieces, Chris Webb, Deloras and Peggy Webb; nephew , Tony Johnston; his special buddies, Bandit, Foxy and Rusty; and three special friends, Crickett Hunter, Peanut Hunter and Mark Moore.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2008, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Claude T. Dove and the Rev. Jerry Otey officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery Blacksburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Blacksburg Rescue Squad, 200 Progress St., Blacksburg, Va. 24060.

Friends may call anytime after 12 noon Tuesday, April 22, 2008, and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, S.W., Blacksburg, Va.
