Shirley Buckland Cook, age 81, of Roanoke, VA, and currently residing in Rich Creek, VA, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at Heritage Hall Rich Creek in Rich Creek, VA. Born August 17, 1936, at Lamar, WV, she was the daughter of the late Sherman B. and Mary Morrison Buckland.

Shirley was a retired nurse having worked for Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She and her husband owned and operated Dart Vending Company in Roanoke, VA. She was a member of the Christian Church at Roanoke and a member of the Eastern Star.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Cook; one sister, Betty Buckland; and one brother, David Buckland. Survivors include her daughter, Mary Taylor Briening Cooper and husband Russell of Lake Tahoe, CA; three step-sons, Ronald Cook and wife Sarah of Troutville, VA, Timothy Cook and wife Karen of Kensington, MD, and Darrell Cook and wife Laura of Blacksburg, VA; one sister, Scarlet B. Ratcliffe of Rich Creek, VA; two brothers, Sherman M. “Sonny” Buckland and wife Linda, and James B. “J.B.” Buckland and wife Barbara, all of Rich Creek, VA; one sister-in-law, Demetia Meeds and husband Gary, and one brother-in-law, Ganaliel Cook, all of Edinburg, VA; sixteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

Graveside services will be 12:00 PM, Friday, February 23, 2018, at the Peterstown Cemetery with Pastor Jay Smith officiating. Friends may call from 11:00 AM until time of graveside services at Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home in Peterstown, WV.
