cook_roger_bruceRoger Bruce Cook, 58, of Blacksburg, Va., died Thursday, October 7, 2010, at his home. He was born in Christiansburg on October 4, 1952, to the late Guy Sidney and Lessie Reed Cook. He retired from Virginia Tech after 39 years of service. He his survived by his wife, Linda C. Cook, of Blacksburg; son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Mendie Cook, of Blacksburg; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Chad Harris, of McCoy; three grandchildren, Scott Harris, Bryant Harris, and Nyoka Cook; special guardianship to two nieces, Crystal Ratcliffe and her three sons, Kimberly Ratcliffe and her two sons; great-nephew, Winston Smith III; great-nieces, Frances Collins and her daughter, Lynn Collins; sister, Carlie Cooper, of Christiansburg; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul and Irene Cook, Curtis and Gayle Cook, and Ricky Cook, all of Blacksburg. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, October 11, 2010, at 11 a.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard Gilbert, the Rev. Rador Vaden, and Mr. James O. Flaugher officiating. Interment will follow in the Hale Family Cemetery. Flowers will be appreciated or contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society , 2840 Electric Road, Suite 106A, Roanoke, Va. 24018. Friends may call anytime after 12 noon Sunday, and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive SW., Blacksburg.
