Richard Thomas (Rick) Cook, 45, of Narrows, went to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, September 25, 2008 from Carilion Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg.

A lifelong resident of Giles County, he was born in Bluefield, West Virginia on March 17, 1963 and was the son of Linda Meredith Frazier and the late William Thomas Cook. A 1981 graduate of Narrows High School and a graduate of Radford University with a B.S. in Mathematics, Rick was the owner of Cook’s General Contracting in Narrows at the time of his unexpected death. He also served as Treasurer of Giles County for two terms, as a teacher and coach at Mercer Christian Academy, coached football at Narrows High School, and was deeply involved in the lives of hundreds of young people throughout Southwest Virginia and Southern West Virginia. He was a committed Christian and deeply involved in the Lord’s work at New Valley Fellowship Church in Narrows. But he’ll best be remembered as an honest, honorable man, a man’s man, a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. Rick’s joy was his wife, his children, and his overabundant love for people.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a special father, his Dad, Bob Frazier; his loving wife of 24 years, Kimberly Denise Cook; a daughter, Brittany Cook; two sons, Richard Thomas (Ricky) Cook, II and William Robert (Billy) Cook, all of Narrows; two brothers, Rusty Cook and wife, Martha, of Virginia Beach, Sonny Frazier and wife, Tammy, of Narrows; two sisters, Kristy Cook, and Bridget Newby and husband, Rusty, all of Narrows; several aunts, uncles and cousins, and many very special friends.
