Cook, Louise Whittaker
Cherished Mother, Grandmother, and dear friend, Louise Whittaker Cook, age 89, of Ellett Valley, went home to be with the LORD on Saturday, November 7, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. Widowed at age 46, she dedicated her life to her family and is now reunited with her husband Quinter Albert Cook, Sr. who passed at age 48 in 1973.
She was also preceded in death by her father and mother, Mark and Rushia Whittaker, brothers, Robert (Frog) Whittaker (Aleene), Mark (Dick) Whittaker, brother-in-law, Lawrence Grubb, son-in-law, JC Tallant, grandson, Jerry Wayne Cook, Jr. and several nieces and nephews.
She is survived by children, Quinter Albert Cook, Jr. (Vicki), Linda Cook Tallant, Jerry Wayne Cook, Sr., (Debra), Karen Cook Linkous (Timmy), Larry Richard Cook (Kathy), Donna Marie Cook (Chip Bryant), Darryl Glenn Cook (Veronica); nineteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; sisters, Kathleen Grubb, Charlotte Hale (Gene), Dorothy (Dot) Smith (Eddie); sister-in-law, Shirley Whittaker, many nieces and nephews, and special friends and neighbors, Clifton and Faye Walters, and Mary Compton.
Louise was dedicated to her family, friends, and church, Harvest Baptist Church, in Blacksburg. There she was pastored by her special friend Gene Ziesel. Since her retirement as a dietary supervisor at Montgomery Regional Hospital she has enjoyed mowing, gardening, reading, and especially spending time with her family. We give grateful thanks to her granddaughter, Christina Cook, who was her caregiver and friend the last days of her journey on this earth.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, November 9, 2015 at 11:00 am in the Harvest Baptist Church with the Pastor Gene Ziesel officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to the Christiansburg Rescue Squad 190 Depot St, Christiansburg, Va. 24073. The family will receive friends from 4-6:00 pm Sunday afternoon at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr. Dr. SW, Blacksburg.
