Cook Jr., Jerry W. (J.J.)
Jerry W. (J.J.) Cook Jr., 36, of Hinton, W.Va., formerly of Christiansburg, entered into eternal rest Thursday, October 11, 2012. Born June 15, 1976, in Christiansburg, he was a son of Jerry W. Sr. and Debra Wood Cook of Christiansburg. He was a 1994 graduate of Christiansburg High School. J.J. was a CCT Paramedic for Summers County EMS in Hinton, W.Va., having been employed with Acadia Ambulance Service, Beaumont, Texas, Louisiana EMS, Richmond Ambulance Authority, as well as volunteering with Blacksburg V.F.D. and Cave Spring V.F.D. He was an avid Virginia Tech fan, who loved motorcycle riding, fishing, life, alligator hunting, cooking, playing musical instruments and spending time with his parents. Preceding him in death are his paternal grandfather, Quinter A. Cook Sr.; maternal grandfather, Fred J. Wood; and his uncle, James C. Tallant Sr. Besides his parents, those left to cherish his memory include one sister, Ariel Cook; paternal grandmother, Louise Cook; maternal grandmother, Shelby Wood; aunts and uncles, Karen Wood Smith and husband, Greg, Sandy Wood O’Berry and husband, Grant, Ron Wood, Quinter A. Cook Jr. and wife, Vickie, Linda Cook Tallant, Karen Cook Linkous and husband, Timmie, Larry Cook and wife, Kathy, Donna Cook and Chip Bryant, Darryl Cook and wife, Veronica; extended family that he viewed as his brothers, Josh Jakupczyk, Zaid Ahmed, Mike Connell, Greg Connell, Steve Peto; his EMS families; a very special friend, Ray Crewey; and the Summers County West Virginia Emergency Medical Service. Numerous cousins also survive. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, October 18, 2012, at the Harvest Baptist Church in Blacksburg with Pastor Gene Ziesel and Chaplain Mike Jarrett officiating. Burial will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Christiansburg. Friends may call at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors in Hinton, W.Va., from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and at the Harvest Baptist Church in Blacksburg from 11 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday. J.J. will be honored with full EMS services and the Summers County EMS Honor Guard will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations of sympathy may be made to Summers County EMS, P.O.
