Cook, James Lamar
James Lamar Cook, 57 of Narrows, Virginia departed this life on January 1, 2023 at his home. Born September 18, 1965 in Chicago, Illinois he was a son of Johnny and Wanda Humphrey Cook.
James lived a full life, loving to cookout, acting as a handyman and carpenter, travelling, or just in spending precious time with his grandbabies.
Left to cherish his memory to their hearts are his parents; wife, Stephanie Halsey Cook; son; Nicholas Cain Cook of Huntington, WV; daughters, Brittany Ladawn Cook of Shady Springs, WV, and Ashley Cook of Huntington, WV; grandchildren, Jayden Spicer, Haley Spicer, Kayden Spicer, Bently Wall Spicer, Seth Slavey, Ethan Morgan, and Aden Gunter; a brother, Johnny Lamar Cook, Jr. (Laura) of Beckley; and sisters, Lora Sue Morgan of West Virginia, Lisa Massey (Rocky) of Daniels, WV, and Stephanie White (Nathaniel) of Charleston, WV.
A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, January 6, 2023 at 12:00 PM in the Pearisburg First Christian Church with Pastor Kelly Keffer officiating. Funeral Services will conclude at Fairview Cemetery in Narrows, VA. The family will receive friends in the Pearisburg First Christian Church on Friday, January 6, 2022 from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Kendall Funeral Home to assist in offsetting any funeral expenses. my dad will always be my light in the dark my strength and my hope for a better tom. I know he’s heaven watching over his children and family and will forever be in my heart . won’t a day go by that I won’t live on his legacy and remember him. I love you dad idk what I would of done without u all my life but today im the woman I am because of u. I promise to always take care of Nick and ash . they will always be able to count on me as they could u. gonna be hard but u will make me a lil bit stronger every day. I will always love you dad .

To my brother and best friend im going to miss you so much. I don’t know what I would have done the past 3 or 4 years without you we grew so close working together so many good times and memories that is what has kept me strong telling stories of me and you working together. im so happy I got to be a part of your life fly high my brother I will watch over your kids forever . I love you Jimmy
