Ora Belle Conner, 97, of Check, passed away early in the morning of Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at her home. She was born in Floyd County in 1910 and lived there her entire life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frazier and Flora Sowers; husbands, Clifford Nichols and Guy Conner; brothers, Vollie and Dossie Sowers; and sister, Mary Conner; sisters-in-law, Grace Sowers and Erma Sowers; and brothers-in-law, Otey Conner and Morris Agee; nephews, Marvin, Arnold, and Norman Sowers; and niece, Lucille Coates.

She was a faithful member of Mountain View Primitive Baptist Church for 59 years and served as its Clerk for 56 of those years. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, hope, and love that have influenced friends and family for generations. She shared those qualities throughout her life and worked until she could not work any more. She loved to help farm and garden, to crochet, to work with her hands, and to share that handiwork with others. She was a very genuine person who cared greatly for people. She loved her brothers and sisters of the Primitive Baptist faith, as well as her many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, stepchildren, step grandchildren, and attentive caregivers. She gave all she had to give to each and every one. She will be greatly missed in life and the many happy memories she left us will be cherished.
