Conley, Wanda Carr

Wanda Carr Conley, 83, of the Wolf Creek community near Narrows departed this life on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at her home. A lifelong resident of Giles County, she was born on February 10, 1928, and was the daughter of the late Herbert Addison and Lelia Thistle Millirons Carr. In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Robert Conley; a sister, Lois Carr Burton; a brother, Vernon L. King; a niece, Nannetta Burton; and a beloved uncle, Kester Millirons. Wanda was a retired employee of Celanese Acetate in Narrows with 42 years service in the twisting department. She was a lifelong member of Hales Chapel United Methodist Church on Wolf Creek. Wanda was a beloved member of the Giles County and Wolf Creek communities, and at the time of her death, was the oldest living member of the Millirons family. She is survived by a son, the Rev. Dr. Thomas A. Conley and wife, Donna Mabe Conley, of Tazewell; a niece, Thelma Burton Tuckwell, of Narrows; and several nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 10, 2011, at Hales Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Don Scott and the Rev. Leon O’Quinn officiating. Burial will follow in the Millirons Family Cemetery on Wolf Creek.
