Compton, Ralph Charles

Ralph Charles Compton, 87, of Dublin, died Thursday afternoon August 7, 2008, in the Pulaski Community Hospital.

Born February 28, 1921, in Bluefield, Va. He was the son of the late Estis and Mary Ellis Compton. Also preceding him in death are a daughter, Betty Ann Holiday; sister, Mary Argabright; and three brothers, Dick, Alfred, Bluford Compton.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Allen Compton, Dublin; son, Richard Heldreth and wife, Mary, Dublin; sisters, Nancy Clark, Elon, N.C., and Margaret Owens, Bluefield, Va.; four grandchildren, Rick and Kelly Heldreth, Todd and Amber Heldreth, Donna and Rev. Chris Granger, and Tony and Martha Patterson; five great-grandchildren, Brandy Granger, Brandon Granger, Caleb Heldreth, Jake Heldreth, and Morgen Hutchison.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 10, 2008 at 2 p.m. from Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chris Granger and the Rev. Ric Wright officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin, Va. The family will be receiving friends and family from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, at the Funeral Home.
