Gordon Curtis Compton, 73, of Christiansburg, died Monday, September 2, 2013, at his home. He was born in Dickinson County January 6, 1940, to the late Claude Swanson and Winnie Gay Wright Compton.

He is also preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Winters Compton; two brothers, Carl Compton, Mack “Whitey” Compton; brother-in-law, Clarence Viers; and sister-in-law, Georgia Compton.

He is survived by his daughter, Lisa, and her children, of W.Va.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Nelva and Alvin Akers, of Christiansburg, Dot and Jimmy Howery, of Floyd, Cathy Phillips, of Blacksburg, Fran Cumbee, of Christiansburg, Pat and Melvin Barnett, of Blacksburg; brother, Donald R. Compton, of Christiansburg; sisters-in-law, Mary Page Compton and Joyce Compton, both of Christiansburg; grandson, Eric Winters; many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted 4 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2013, in the Northfork Baptist Church Cemetery with Nathan Cumbee and the Rev. Rusty Mullins officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. before the service in the church.
