Dorothy Allen (Dottie) Compton, 95, of Dublin, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2013, at home. She was born on October 4, 1917, in the Little Creek Community of Pulaski County. She was the daughter of the late George and Neta Combs Allen. Also preceding her in death are her husband Ralph Compton; daughter Betty Holliday; and brother Kent Allen.

Surviving are her son, Richard Heldreth and wife Mary; four grandchildren and their spouses, Rick and Kelly Heldreth, Todd and Amber Heldreth, Donna Grainger and Tony and Martha Patterson; five great-grandchildren, Brandy Grainger, Brandon Grainger, Caleb Heldreth, Jake Heldreth, and Morgan Hutchison; one great-great- grandchild, Reid Strickland.

Retired from Pulaski Hospital she was a 30 year member of First United Methodist Church, Pulaski, and founding member of Seaside Methodist Church Ocean Isle, N.C., and was active in many civic and charity groups in her community. She served as Justice of the Peace in Pulaski, and first female president of the Civitan Club, Pulaski.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at noon from the Stevens Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Don Shelor officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. The family will receive friends Tuesday at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the service hour. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski, 540-980-2600.
