Ronald Dean Combs, 67, of Narrows passed away Sunday, June 29th, 2008 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

He was born in Bluefield, West Virginia on January 31st, 1941 and was the son of Audrey Gibson Combs Shrader and the late John Henry Combs.He attended Bluefield schools and served in the United States Navy from 1958 to 1964. Later, he was employed by various companies as an auto mechanic and as a skilled carpenter.

Survivors include his parents, Hiram Watha and Audrey Gibson Shrader of Narrows; two sons, Richard Allen (Pete) Combs and wife Mary, and Robert Glen Combs; a grandson, Zachary Combs; a granddaughter, Amber Combs, all of Gaston, South Carolina; a brother, Donald Ray Shrader and wife Judy of Rich Creek; a sister, Anita Shrader Blaydes and husband Dr. Elliott Blaydes of Bluefield, West Virginia; a nephew, Brandon Nicholas Mann of Rich Creek; and a niece, Jaime Blaydes Gilliam of Greensboro, North Carolina.

A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008 at 11 a.m. in the Shrader Cemetery at Niday in the Wolf Creek community of Bland County with Minister Paul Looney officiating.
