Combs, Margie Leona

Margie Leona Combs, 84, of Eggleston Road at Pembroke, departed this life Wednesday morning, March 26, 2008, at Montgomery Regional Hospital, in Blacksburg.

Born in Giles County on August 30, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Walter Dexter and Zena Collins Sanders. She attended Evangelistic Holiness Chapel, in Pembroke, when her health would permit.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James R. Combs; a daughter, Mary Combs; a grandson, Walter Stanley; a great-grandson, Nathan Lee Combs; her sister, Hazel S. Hilton; her brothers; Sam, Silas, Woody, Buddy and David Sanders.

She leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters and sons-in-law, Madeline and Robert Dalton, of Pearisburg, Helen and Safford Stanley, of Pembroke, Connie and Skip Songer, of Pembroke; six sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Dorothy Combs, of Pembroke, Frankie and Betty Combs, of Pembroke, Paul, Tommy, Donald Combs, all of Pembroke, and Ronald Combs, of Pearisburg; her brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Beulah Sanders, of Pembroke; sister, Bertie Cumbee, of Pembroke; sister and brother-in-law, Naomi and Doug Merrix, of Ripplemead; a sister-in-law, Freda S. Sanders, of Pembroke; 23 grandchildren; 32 greatgrandchildren; two great-greatgrandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. in The Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St., in Pembroke, with Pastor Merrill Hedrick and Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in The Fillinger Cemetery at Pembroke.
