Hazel Lelia Woodyard Combs, 89 of the Little Creek Community, Dublin went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 9, 2008 from Giles Memorial Hospital. She was born March 15, 1919 at Poplar Hill, VA the daughter of the late Albert Sidney and Rhoda White Woodyard. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Wesley Combs, seven brothers and one sister.

She was a faithful member of the Little Creek Tabernacle.

She is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Ronald C. Combs, Dublin; Robert W. Jr., and Deana Combs, Kingsport, TN; six daughters and sons-in-law, Marie C. and Bill Byrd, Pulaski; Barbara C. and Brother Tommy Ramsey, Dublin; Dollie C. and Euel Lee Hale, Dublin; Jewel C. and Jerry Williams, White Gate; Linda C. and Craig Strain, Dublin; Vaundlene C. and Ronnie Wills, Pearisburg; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Clowers and Eula Mae Woodyard, Carl and Mary Woodyard, Allen and Patricia Woodyard all of Dublin; also four other sisters-in-law survive. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services will be Tuesday at 11:00 AM at the Hunter’s Cemetery, Alum Springs by Brother Tommy Ramsey. The family will receive friends at the Little Creek Tabernacle on Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Caribbean Mission, 3117 Little Creek Road, Dublin, VA 24084. Arrangements by A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home, White Gate
