Collins, Ruth Butler

Ruth M. Collins, 79 of Pearisburg, VA went to be with the Lord February 2, 2022 with her family by her side. Ruth was born on April 20, 1942 in Staffordsville, VA. She was the daughter of the late Luther Butler and Thelma St. Clair. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Leroy Collins; two brothers, Luther and Eugene Butler; and sister, Janice Dennewitz.

Ruth was a retired employee of the Celco Plant in Narrows, VA for over 30 years. She was a three-time cancer survivor. She loved to play the slot machines with her sister, Sharon and Grandson, Zach. She enjoyed going to the Giles Senior Center and spending time with her friends.

She is survived by her only child, Beth Collins (David Meredith) of Pearisburg; two grandchildren who she dearly loved, Zach Collins (Krystal) of Pearisburg, VA, and Bethany Meredith (Dontae) of Radford; two great-granddaughters who were the sunshine of her life, Kennedy and Kenleigh; three sisters, Anna Jo Belcher of WV, Leota Cook of Christiansburg, VA, and Sharon Camper (Mark) of Salem. She also had a host of friends who are too many to name.

There will be a graveside service conducted at her request on Monday, February 7, 2022 at 2:00 PM in Birchlawn Burial Park-Pearisburg, VA with Pastor Gary Poff officiating which will be open to the public.
