Collins, Mary Shelor (Miss Mary)

Mary Shelor (Miss Mary) Collins, 54, of Blacksburg, Va., went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 18, 2011, at Montgomery Regional Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born in Roanoke, Va., on February 3, 1956, to the late Claude A. and Ruby H. Shelor and was also preceded in death by her brother, Frank Shelor.

She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Bert E. Collins; a daughter and son-in-law, JudyBeth and Kelly Martin; a son, BJ Collins, all of Blacksburg; a son and daughter-in-law, Acy and Crystal (Map) Collins, of Pearisburg; three grandchildren, Abi and Sarah Bradbury, and Katie Martin; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Dorothy Shelor, Terry and Janice Shelor, all of Christiansburg, and Larry and Queenie Shelor, of Dublin; sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Dwight Price, of Blacksburg; and sister-in-law, Barbara Shelor, of Floyd.

Special thanks to the nursing staff at Montgomery Regional Hospital 2nd floor PCU and ICU for the care and compassion of Mary and the family. A special thanks also to niece, Carol Shelor and her family; friends, Scotty Caldwell and Sarah Owen; and her fellow teachers and coworkers at Prices Fork Elementary, Gilbert Linkous, Margaret Beeks, and Harding Avenue.

Funeral Services will be conducted 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 22, 2011, in the Christiansburg Bible Holiness Church with the Rev. Keith Linkous and the Rev. Delores Caldwell officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday evening, January 21, 2011, at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr., Blacksburg, Va., 540-552-3211.
