Collins, John Harvey

John Harvey Collins, 70, of Radford, died Thursday, May 29, 2008 at his home. He was born in Montgomery County, Va. on March 30, 1938 to the late Hampton Wade and Virgie Harris Collins.

He was also preceded in death by a brother. John loved Eagles and Flowers and was an avid bowler.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Edna A. “Kitty” Collins, Radford; two stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Mike Wallace, Riner, Dana and Jim Payne, Christiansburg; two stepsons and a daughter-in-law, Darrell Hungate, San Antonio, Texas, Douglas and Shirley Hungate, Blacksburg; a sister, Virginia Martin, Riner; seven stepgrandchildren, Natasha Stover and husband, Gary, Doug Hungate, Jr. and wife, Emily, Tracy Hungate, James Hungate, Jason Hungate, Joey Wallace, John Lee Payne; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Dustin and Cory Stover; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 2, 2008 at 2 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary McCoy and Rev. Ray Kingrea officiating. Interment will follow in the Centennial Christian Church Cemetery, McCoy, Va.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg.
