Ida Alma (Hattie Jo) Fortner Collins, 71, of Pearisburg, went to her heavenly homecoming Tuesday, November 22, 2011. Born March 3, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Ballard J. and Evelyn Harris Fortner.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald Ray Collins; six sisters, Ollie Fortner Lusk, Mable Fortner Helens, Dorothy Fortner Alexander, Clara Fortner Bassett, Shelvia “Jean” Fortner Fulcher and Mary Fortner Reed.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Tommy Midkiff, of Staffordsville, Donna “Becky” and Eugene McGee, of Pearisburg; three sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy Collins, of Staffordsville, William “Randy” and Christine “Crissy” Collins, of Staffordsville, Jeff and Angie Collins, of Pulaski; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Hazel F. and Wayne Stanley, of Narrows, Lula F. and Gene Ingle, of Asheboro, N.C., Christine Fortner Delk, of Winston Salem, N.C.; 21 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a special “thank you” to the staff of Heritage Hall, Blacksburg, for the great care and support given during this difficult time.

Funeral services will be Thursday, November 24, 2011 at 11 a.m. at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home, White Gate with the Rev. Jarrod Midkiff and the Rev. Terry Mays officiating. Burial will follow in Staffordsville Cemetery, Staffordsville. The family will receive friends during visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m.
