Helen Magdalene (Doodie) Collins, 79, of Tucker Lane at Newport, departed this life Thursday morning in the loving care of her family at Heritage Hall Health Care in Blacksburg.

Born in Giles County on December 10, 1926 she was a daughter of the late Frank Lee and Florence Williams Collins. This devoted mother and grandmother was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Pembroke Ward since she was thirteen years old. She was preceded in death by a brother Robert Collins.

She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Ernest Harvey of Newport; a son, Marvin E. Collins of Blacksburg; two granddaughters, Shannon Stump of Pearisburg and Kimberly Myers of Newport; three loving great-grandchildren who always called her “GG”, Caleb, Cullen, and Haleigh; three sisters, Mary Roop of Riner, Shirley Martin of Pembroke, and Reba Cromer of Floyd; and several devoted and caring nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with burial following in the Williams Cemetery at Hoges Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. The family would like to especially thank Dr. Robert Devereaux for his skilled and compassionate care and friendship to Helen.
