Collins, Helen Hager
Helen Ruth Hager Collins, 86, of Pearisburg, Va., passed away on Monday, June 14, 2010, at Kroontje Health Care Center in Blacksburg, Va. Mrs. Collins was born on September 15, 1923, in Bluefield, W.Va., and was a daughter of the late Walter Lee Hager and Ethel Hall Hager.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Paul Collins; one grandson, Keith Collins; and three sisters, Georgia Byrd, Una Hager and Laura Kipfinger.
Mrs. Collins was a member of the First Church of God in Rich Creek and was a retired Lab Tech at the Celanese Corporation in Narrows, Va.
She is survived by three sons, Alfred Lee Collins and wife, Pat, of Powhatan, Tommy Marcus Collins and wife, Odette, of Forest, and David Michael Collins and wife, Vickie, of Pearisburg; one sister, Jean Wimmer and husband, William, of Winston-Salem, N.C.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 17, 2010, at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg with the Rev. Bernice Warner officiating and assisted by grandson, Zachary Collins. Burial will follow in Monte Vista Cemetery in Bluefield, W.Va. The family will receive friends at the Givens Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 16, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m.
The family would like to express appreciation to the entire administration and nursing staff at Kroontje Health Care Center and Good Samaritan Hospice.
