Collins, Floyd Ray
Floyd Ray Collins, 64, of Croft Manor, Pembroke, departed this life Friday afternoon, March 2, 2012 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Born in Mullens, W.Va. on June 11, 1947, he was a son of the late Corbet and Gerthie Snider Collins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his companion, Ruby Robbins, his brothers, June Bug and Randy Collins and his sisters, Eleanor Meadows and Anita Meadows.
He had been employed as a truck driver with the Town of Christiansburg. He and Ruby attended The Pembroke Christian Church as long as she lived.
He leaves to cherish his memory his stepdaughter and caregiver, Peggy and her husband, John Hale, of Pembroke; his brothers, Bert Collins, of Blacksburg and Carl Collins, of Narrows; his sisters, Judy Meadows of Radford and Mary Austin, of Dublin; his stepgrand-daughter, Lorie Hale; and his stepgreat-grandson, Trevor and Devin Hale.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in The Kendall Funeral Home Chapel, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke, with burial following in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg.
