collins emily gEmily G. Collins, 87, of Blacksburg, died Friday, June 21, 2013, at Lewis Gale Hospital-Montgomery. She was born in Lee, Massachusetts on October 20, 1925 to the late Tracy and Ethel Ambler. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, John B. Gibson, and second husband, George B. Collins, as well as by her brother, Curtis P. Ambler.

Emily was a member of the DAR, PEO International, the Master Chorale, and the Virginia Tech Faculty Wives Club. She was also a master gardner, an avid bridge player, a performing-arts enthusiast, and enjoyed traveling throughout the world. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Roger Moley, of Quogue, N.Y.; son and daughter-in-law, William A. Gibson and June Costello, of Greenbelt, Md.; three grandchildren, Sarah Grant, Nell Moley, Emma Moley; two great-grandsons; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be conducted Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at 2p.m. in the Blacksburg Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Catherine McCollough officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the P.E.O.
