Collins, Charles Edward

Charles Edward Collins, 84, of Christiansburg, went to be with the Lord on November 21, 2020. He retired from the Radford Arsenal after 33 years of service. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father, and papa to everybody.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents Woodrow and Clara Collins; in-laws, Charlie and May Belle Weeks; and one brother, Woodrow Collins Jr. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Zylphia Collins; children, Clint Edward Collins (Catherine), Daphne Rakes (Joe), Lurleen Collins (Kris Peter); grandchildren, Raymond Rakes (Amanda), Lauren “Katie” Collins, Erika Rakes (Thomas Klok), Natalie Rakes; great-grandchildren, Abby and Asher; brothers, Gaynor Collins (Mary Sue), Everett Collins (Donna), Kirby Conner (Myra); sisters, Marie Luckadoo, Ethel Gilmore, Carol King (Nelson); special friend, Sonya Geraldine; special furry friend, Lilly.

A special thank you to Lynn and Jessica, nurses at the dialysis center at UVA.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday November 24, 2020 at 11:00 am at Gardner Funeral Home with Pastor Roy Turpin officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Christiansburg,VA. The family will receive friends on Monday November 23, 2020 from 6pm -8pm. If you choose to come to the services, please wear a face mask inside of the facilities due to COVID-19, and there will be a limit of 25 people in the building at a time.
