collier_barbara_boltBarbara Ann Bolt Collier, 72, of Christiansburg, passed away peacefully at her home with family by her side, Wednesday, April 2, 2014. She was born on August 21, 1941 in Willis, Va. to the late Theodore and Gracie Bolt. Barbara is survived by her husband of 50 years, Robert (Bobby) Collier; her daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Tony Fenton; two grandchildren, who were the pride and joy of her life, Morgan and Jordan Fenton; brothers and sisters-in-law, S.G. and Pauline Bolt, Lloyd and Betty Bolt; sisters and brother-in-law, Virginia Branscome Sowder and Brenda and Kenny (Louie) Dalton; brother-in-law, Jack Collier; sister-in-law, Billie Collier; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends, Clara Jean McCroskey and Pam Fisher; and her special companion, Sadie.

Barbara graduated from Willis High School in 1959. She always enjoyed class reunions and reminiscing with old friends. The family wishes to thank all her classmates for their visits and calls during Barbara’s illness. A special thanks to her lifelong friend and partner in crime, Doris Kemp Goad. The family have so many to thank who have supported and traveled these last 23 years with us and Barbara. The journey began on March 11, 1991 when she received her liver transplant at MCV in Richmond. The family will always be grateful to Dr. Marc Posner who went against all odds and performed the surgery with only a five percent chance of survival. There is no way we could ever thank everyone that has assisted Barbara along the way. A special thanks to Dr. George Vetrovec, Dr. Scott Jamison and staff, Cardiologist Dept. on East tenth floor at MCV. Staff of Medi-Home Health.

Services will be conducted Saturday, April 5, 2014, at 2 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Layne Board and Pastor Steve Board officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Christiansburg. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Hospital Hospitality House, 612 East Marshall St. Richmond, Va. 23219, or to the Christiansburg High School Athletic Dept. for the All State Wall, 100 Independence blvd., Christiansburg, Va. 24073. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr., SW, Blacksburg.
