Robert Wingfield Cofer, 74, of Willow Circle, Pearisburg, departed this life Friday evening, April 25, 2014 at home in the loving care of his family and hospice. Born in Lynchburg on October 3, 1939, he was a son of the late Lawrence Hill and Mary Virginia Pendelton Cofer.

He was retired from a career of twenty-two years in the U S Air Force and later at Bland Correctional Farm. He was a devoted member of Riverview Baptist Church in Ripplemead and a staunch New York Yankees fan. Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother Isaac Cofer.

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 51 years Faye Smith Cofer; his daughters and sons-in-law Ginger and Brian Canode of Staffordsville, Rhonda Faye Gale of Edmond, OK, Shelby and Benjie Johnston of Roanoke; his eleven grandchildren Nikki, Dani, Andrew, Ricky, Eric, Lacie, Olivia, Gavin, Conner, Caleb and Elijah; his great-grandchildren Isaiah, Rowen, Addy Faye, Virginia, Avory, and Riley; his sister Barbara Sadler of Atlanta, GA; his brothers Lawrence Cofer, Jr. and Reggie Cofer both of Jacksonville, NC.

Memorial services date will be announced later at Riverview Baptist Church in Ripplemead with Pastor Shahn Wilburn officiating. The family will receive friends at the church before the services.

The family request that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Guatemala Mission Trip at Riverview Baptist Church, 219 Big Stony Creek Road, Ripplemead 24150.
