Samuel E. Cocus, 80, of Rich Creek, passed away Thursday, April 5, 2007, at his home. Born Oct. 17, 1926, he was the son of the late Silas and Virginia Caudill Cocus.

Mr. Cocus was a retired employee of Celanese Corp., he was a member of First Baptist Church, Rich Creek, and was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. Mr. Cocus was also a member of Intermont Lodge No. 269 A.F. & A.M., Narrows, Va.

In addition to his parents, he preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Helen Clyburn Cocus; one daughter, Vanessa Alexander and husband Kevin of Greenville, S.C.; four grandchildren, Kevin A. Alexander II, Philip Alexander, Ashley Stewart, and Vo Dickerson; three great-grandchildren, Jeremy Meyers, Trek Stewart, and Alley Dickerson; three sisters, Juanita Stuckey and Judy Black, both of Falls Church, Va., and Helen Via of Princeton.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2007, at Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel, Peterstown, with the Rev. Jim Pickett officiating. Burial with Military Rites will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Rich Creek.
