Luther Jack Clyburn, 77,of Pulaski, passed into eternal rest on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011 at LewisGale Hospital-Pulaski. He was preceded in death by his first love and the mother of his children, Nancy Gills Clybum.

He is survived by his children and their spouses, Jackie Clyburn and wife, Veronica Clyburn, of Pulaski; Linda Clybum Alumbaugh and husband, Gregory L. Alumbaugh, of Christiansburg; two grandchildren and spouses, Jamison McGlothlin and wife, Jennifer Hawley McGlothlin, and Shannon Clyburn Rumery and husband, Shawn Rumery.

His cherished great-grandchildren, Connor B. McGlothlin, Zachary W. McGlothlin, Ryleigh A. Rumery, and Chandler S. Rumery and his brother, Claude Clybum, Radford, and sister, Mageline Sutphin, of Pulaski. He also leaves behind his beloved companion and friend of many years, Geneva Moore, of Pulaski.

Luther retired from Pulaski Furniture where he was a truck driver and was recognized for a million miles driven without an accident; a record he took great pride in. He then went on to work part-time as a front-end associate at Food City in Pulaski where he became friends with a host of people, which he spoke of with fond memories. He also worked part-time with Goodwill as a donation box attendant prior to officially retiring.

Luther was a member of Jordan’s Chapel United Methodist Church, Pulaski. He loved his church and his church friends. He was an avid Pulaski Mariners fan and until his illness, missed very few games.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 26, 2011 at 2 p.m. from Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Scott A. Robertson-Goug and the Rev. John Grimm officiating. Burial will follow at Thornspring Cemetery, Pulaski; Visiting will be Monday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from noon until the service hour. In lieu of flowers the family wishes memorials be made to the Jordan’s Chapel United Methodist Church Building Fund, Pulaski, VA 24301. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski.
