cline delmer eugeneDelmer Eugene (Chick) Cline, 84, of Shawsville, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, October 5, 2011, surrounded by his loving wife of 61 years and his three children. Delmer was born in Illinois on July 18, 1927. He was a long time member and Elder of Seneca Baptist Church in Elliston. He retired after 26 years of service from Hercules and was a United States Navy Veteran, serving eight years during World War II. Chick was preceded in death by his father, Homer Earl Cline; mother, Olivia Jane Whited; brother, Homer H. Cline; and his grandson, Steven Todd Cline. He leaves behind his loving wife, Mary Basham Cline, of Shawsville; three children, Johnny E. Cline of Shawsville, Steven W. and Tina B. Cline, of Montvale Donna C. and David E. Mellichamp, of Blacksburg. Also surviving are his six grandchildren, Monacca and Thomas Pitts, of Blairsville, Pa., Christina and Dan Caffarelli, of Syracuse, N.Y., Tammy and John Trussler, of Radford, Va., Hallie Jean Cline and Evan Iczkowski, of Milwaukee, Wis., Joseph T. Mellichamp, of Watauga, Tenn.; and 10 great-grandchildren; four great- great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Dorothy Cline; niece, Kim and her husband, Jim Watson, their three sons; nephew, Larry Cline, all of Beardstown, Ill.; cousin, Nova and her husband, Dave Hays, of Florida.

The family will receive friends at The Horne Funeral Home, 1300 N. Franklin St., Christiansburg, on Sunday, October 9, 2011, from 3 to 5 p.m. The Funeral service will be held Monday, October 10, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Seneca Baptist Church with Pastor John Collins officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg.
